In this presentation, we will explore how the IPLPARM parameter can fundamentally change the way an LPAR initialises, even when using the same system residence volume. By simply adjusting a few key settings within IPLPARM, you can control which PARMLIB members are used, effectively altering the system's configuration at IPL time. Let's dive into how this flexibility allows for multiple profiles on a single LPAR, enabling different subsystem configurations, naming conventions and workload depending on the IPLPARM used. Ultimately, you will gain a deeper understanding of how a few characters can have a huge effect on a system.
