Stream: z Capacity & Performance
Time: 15:30 - 16:15
A Mainframe is like a Formula 1 car: It only performs at its best, if well-tuned.
- And as we should all know, "well-tuned" means the sum of all the components that make up to car.
This same principle is true for Mainframes!
In this session, we will look at the different components that makes up a Mainframe system and how we can tune them, what fuel the Work Load Manager (WLM) needs, the relation between Capacity, Performance and Billing model, and how tuning works in more detail.

I’ve spent more than 25 years working with mainframe systems - starting in system control and moving through roles in batch operations, PL/I development, test datacenter management, and IT project leadership. This broad background has given me a deep understanding of both the technical and organizational aspects of large-scale IT environments.
Today, as a Senior ITBI Consultant at SMT Data, I help customers turn complex infrastructure and performance data into concrete insights that support better decision-making. I’m particularly focused on mainframe performance and capacity management - areas where small improvements can lead to significant cost savings and service quality gains.
What drives me is not just solving technical problems, but helping people and organizations see the bigger picture in their IT landscape. I believe that a clear, data-driven view of how IT resources are used is essential to creating long-term value.
