Performance Analysis of CPU Problems in z/OS

(RG)

Stream: z Capacity & Performance
Time: 11:30 - 12:15

Presentation

Help! How should I change WLM to give this poorly performing workload more CPU?” That may seem like a fine enough question, but it does presuppose that the workload is suffering due to a lack of CPU and that you can make a WLM adjustment to alleviate that suffering. Those may be fine hypotheses, but until you’ve looked at the overall environment, they’re just educated guesses. In this session, Scott Chapman will present a methodology for analyzing performance problems on z/OS with an eye towards determining if work really is CPU-constrained and then discussing different ways that such constraints might be relieved.
