Data fabric is an architecture that facilitates the end-to-end integration of existing data pipelines and cloud environments through the use of intelligent and automated systems. It is a hybrid approach for connecting disparate data sources through virtualization vs data movement eliminating costly ETL processes.
This presentation will discuss the concepts of the data fabric architecture and how it can help you succeed in your mainframe modernization initiatives. It will highlight how to integrate z/OS data with other disparate data sources using modern access methods such as Restful APIs, SOAP, JDBC, ODBC,and common SQL without the cost, complexity, and risk of data replication of having to have a deep knowledge of z/OS
Jim Wankowski is a Principal Solutions Advisor for Rocket Software. Jim specializes in data virtualization, IDAA Loader, Omegamon PE for Db2, and IBM Administration Foundation. Jim is a certified database administrator for Db2 z/OS V11 and as a technical specialist on IBM’s Cloud Pack for Data. Jim started his career as a programmer/analyst participating in the original Db2 MVS beta program in 1984. He has 35+ years of development, database administration, and tools experience with Db2 for both z/OS and LUW.
