Lightning Strikes, Mainframe Resiliency & Modern Development Practices

(2C)

Stream: Virtual Room 2
Time: 12:30 - 13:15

Presentation

In this session I will give a very brief overview into the history of the Mainframe from the System 360 to the Z16.
I will also put into perspective just how resilient the Z platform is through comparing the likelihood of a person being struck by lightning to a Z16 experiencing any downtime within a one year period (hint: you're more likely to be struck by lightning).
I can also explore how this is possible (briefly describe architecture and redundant systems) however the main focus of the session will morph into modern development practices being used on the Mainframe (DevOps).

The session will explain what DevOps is and some of the tools (ADDI and WXCA4Z) being used alongside it on Z
