The Pervasive Encryption Journey: Data Security, Key Rotation, and Quantum Resilience

(7P)

Stream: Virtual Room 7
Time: 12:30 - 13:15

Presentation

Description

With the launch of Data Set Encryption on the IBM z14 in 2017, you can protect sensitive data at rest. However, advances in quantum computing and the evolving regulatory landscape—such as PCI DSS 4.0— require the use of Data Set encryption for sensitive data.

This session explores IBM’s pervasive encryption solution, including Data Set Encryption best practices, key rotation strategies, and IBM’s ongoing commitment to Quantum-Safe encryption. You will gain insights into IBM’s Statement of Direction (SOD) for future enhancements aimed at simplifying key rotation and ensuring long-term data security on z/OS.
