This presentation aims to alleviate fear and uncertainty by explaining the IBM Z cryptographic “stack”: what the features do, how they help, how z/VM virtualizes them, and how a guest can capitalize upon them ... with as few security-related acronyms as possible. New features released in 1Q26 will also be introduced and discussed.
Brian Hugenbruch, CISSP has been a developer for IBM z/VM for the past twenty-five years, which means he really can't be "the new kid" anymore. He has served as z/VM's Security and Cryptography Product Owner for fifteen years. He has spoken in hundreds of venues on the topics of identity management, security, cryptography, TLS, auditing, certifications, compliance, and resiliency.
