This Session will be targeted towards companies and professionals in the mainframe industry and highlight the importance of student societies in the future of the mainframe community. The session will cover: - What a Mainframe Student Society is and why they are needed - Experiences of leading the Mainframe Student Society at the University of Wolverhampton and how it has helped the students grow - How companies can benefit from these societies - How companies and professionals can support these societies, including outreach, social media and mentorship The session will emphasise the importance of inspiring aspiring mainframers in order to shorten the “skills gap” and make sure that individuals get recognition for their efforts towards such a niche area of technology.
Zaid is a Content Strategist at Horizn.one. He was the former President and Vice President of the Mainframe Student Society at the University of Wolverhampton and has been a mainframe advocate since 2023.
Nishka is a Technical Consultant on the NTZ Scheme at Vertali and a 2025 TechChannel IBM Z Rising Star.
